Eleni and Édouard Vocoret are at the vanguard of new-wave Chablis.Having been gifted 5ha of vines from Édouard's family at the end of 2012, the couple's accomplished wines belie the fact that their estate is still a relative Burgundy newcomer.While most producers in Chablis blend all their plots together, the Vocorets craft single-site Chardonnays that express a real sense of place. With advice from local legend Vincent Dauvissat (for whom Eleni worked as assistant winemaker), they farm organically, using natural fermentation and old oak to produce wines of shimmering vitality.'Le Bas de Chapelot' – from a village parcel beneath the lauded 1er Cru 'Montée de Tonnerre' – offers exceptional value with concentrated citrus fruit and a detailed, mineral finish. 'En Boucheran', sourced from three levels of vines between 'Montmains' and 'Vaillons', is full of flavour and instant appeal.'Les Pargues', a southerly vineyard neighbouring 1er Cru 'La Forêt', is Vocoret's most fruit-forward wine, its generosity balanced by a pithy edge. 'Les Butteaux' 1er Cru is one of the top examples of the appellation, combining the minerality typical of Chablis with a weight and complexity only found in the region's top wines.
