Benjamin Benoît apprenticed with some of Burgundy's elite winemakers, including Nicholas Faure, Charles Lachaux, and Amélie Berthaut. He took over the family vineyards in 2019 at the age of 23 and introduced organic farming and artisanal winemaking techniques.He farms 6ha of traditional Jura varieties – Chardonnay, Savagnin, Ploussard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir – across some of Pupillin's oldest vineyards. Fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in old oak barrels, production is so tiny that each bottle is numbered individually.Made in the ouillé ('topped up') style, Benjamin's white wines are off-set by herbal freshness and racy acidity, while his reds combine elegant floral-fruit aromatics and silky textures. In addition to his white and red cuvées, Benjamin makes an extended lees-aged crémant, as well as a decadently sweet Vin de Paille made from grapes dried on straw mats.After just a handful of vintages, he has already won the 2021 Le Guide Hachette's "Jura Winemaker of the Year" award. Benjamin is destined for great things.
