We’ve always admired the wines of Domaine Bachelet-Monnot &nbsp; but one visit to the brothers’ cellar turned admiration into awe. From Grand Crus like Bienvenues-Bâtard and Bâtard-Montrachet to understated gems from Maranges or Santenay — even their humble Bourgogne — every wine punched above its weight. Across the board, there was the same purity, detail, and balance that only come from meticulous farming and sensitive winemaking.Grandsons of Burgundy legend Bernard Bachelet, Marc and Alexandre founded their domaine in 2005 after years spent travelling and honing their craft. They now farm 22 hectares across some of the finest sites in the Côte de Beaune, as well as lesser-known villages, treating every parcel with the same care: hand-picking, no herbicides, and a commitment to letting each vineyard’s character shine. In the cellar, they preserve that quality with wild yeast fermentations and measured oak use.It’s no surprise the whites get most of the attention — they have a beautiful balance of weight and energy. But, unusually for a top Chardonnay producer, the Bachelets are just as adept with Pinot Noir, crafting reds with silky tannins and luminous, pure fruit. Every bottle is a testament to the quality of the fruit and the dedication behind it. Right now, Bachelet-Monnot is one of the smartest buys in Burgundy.
